Optical Underground

Optical Underground is a fourth generation San Francisco fashion eyewear company located in the heart of Hayes Valley.  We sell past-season luxury and independent eyewear from some of the most creative designers in the business - discreetly priced, authentically sourced, and served without the usual optical-store stiffness.

Optical experience is helpful, but not required. We can teach frame measurements, lenses, prescriptions, and product knowledge. What we need is harder to teach: curiosity, taste, confidence, reliability and the ability to make customers feel seen without making them feel sold to.

You might be a fit if you've worked in fashion, design, jewelry, beauty, hospitality, luxury retail, vintage or any environment where service and style matter.

This is not a passive counter job.

You'll greet customers, style frames, learn brands, support sales goals, help maintain the floor, participate in special events and become part of a small but growing team with high standards and very little "mall" energy.

Compensation: $21 +  per hour depending upon experience, plus storewide bonus opportunities.

Full and part-time considered.

Weekend availability required.

We have been here since 1911. Still slightly rebellious.
